• Who is Hassan Issa

Xasan Ciise also known as Hassan Issa depending on which part of the globe he is in. A true diamond in the ruff in Somalian Football History, he has played in almost every continent in the world from Africa to Europe (Sweden, Norway) Canada and finally in the United State where he resides.

Not until recently did I see him play in Somali tournaments which boggled my mind with his foot work, "why isn't this guy playing somewhere or has he before so i asked him myself ? And this is what I got.

A little description of him tall, skinny "as any other Somalian", long curly hair, quite in demeanor off the field but on the pitch its another story for oponnents. But on a serious note an amazing play reader, technical and mentally which is very rare, and at the same time has a good football head on his shoulder. Before I forget the part of his game which I enjoy is his tremendous crunching tackles "trust me on this one I have been a victim of one of his tackles this summer in Toronto.

He has a great deal of Football knowledge with no surprise has told me he wants to coach at a higher level one day. This came at no surprise to me as I watch him guide the young players in his team and neighbour hood in Columbus, Ohio where he wishes to start his coaching career. This subject was dear to him reasons he explained in a manner that had me speechless. He started off by mentioning as a father of a 9 month year old son that he loves more the anything in this world and would love to see him grow up as outstanding man in life. In his neighbourhood kids always get in trouble reason of no extra activities and would love to get this kids a option to stay away from trouble and thats the main reason of deciding to start coaching youth.

As I sat down with Xasan Ciise a couple of days before he left to Nairobi to play in the CECAFA Senior Cup to get a little profile of the man and this is what i found out Xasan Cisse is a player that has been shaved under the carpet with numerous bad lucks after heading to europe/Norway when he graduted from high school and took his luck where he played in a Division 2 league with the hopes of moving up the ranks but didn't because of a work permit issues that denied he the oppurtunity. As he describes these events to me in a calm state of mind and with a smile "Allah had and has other plans for me and it wasn't meant to me to have a career in football now I am happy and blessed with health, family and friends what more can a man ask for". What another point of view to think about it.

Xasan Ciise or Hassan Issa depending on where you are at again pardon the repetition, I am sure in my mind that Somalia will get an amazing Midfielder in this years CECAFA Senior Tournament in Nairobi. Somalian Soccer is on a raise again and needs player like Xasan Cisse to gain exposer and for this sport to grow in our country and outside our country.
